Revitalizing Rural Land with HOS's Innovative Design

Seed becomes the inspiration for the design team to conceive the core architectural complex. The germination of seed becomes the design concept. Seed, containing enormous information on life, grows roots and sprouts in appropriate temperature, lighting, and moisture conditions. The wisdom of the seed lies in every step of the growing process. As to Pizhou, planning works as a starting point. A smart park will grow up and evolve in the way the seed does.

The design team at HOS has created a truly unique and innovative project called Smart Agriculture, which aims to revolutionize the agricultural industry. Positioned as a "smart countryside, future field," this project reflects the core theme of "intelligence" throughout the entire industrial chain and development process.

The core area of the project features four buildings that resemble seeds, symbolizing growth and potential. The walkways in the park represent sprouted vines, reaching towards the direction where the best lighting and air originate. The landscape flowers are like newborn leaves, symbolizing a colorful and vibrant life. This design truly captures the essence of nature and its transformative power.

What sets Smart Agriculture apart is its integration of cutting-edge technologies. 5G technology, big data, and machine technology are adopted to achieve intelligent planting and processing. Digitization, parameterization, and prefabrication, along with 3D printing technology, are applied to realize intelligent design and construction. The result is a seamless blend of nature and technology, creating a harmonious and efficient agricultural environment.

The project encompasses various functions to cater to the diverse needs of different stakeholders. It includes an agricultural products processing experience center, agricultural museum, cultural exchange center, tourist service center, smart farm, and science education farm. These functions come together to form a technological and ecological pastoral complex, providing a holistic and immersive experience for visitors.

Located in Pizhou, Jiangsu Province, China, Smart Agriculture is a testament to the power of advanced technology in rural development. The project started in April 2021 and was completed in 2023, showcasing the dedication and expertise of the design team at HOS. By introducing advanced technology to agricultural production, the project aims to provide more employment opportunities, attract tourists, and contribute to the local economy.

The design and construction of Smart Agriculture were not without challenges. At the beginning, the design team faced an empty farm site, vague policy requirements, and uncertain investment progress. However, through careful planning and flexible construction stages, the team was able to overcome these challenges and gradually improve the project.

Smart Agriculture has already been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in City Planning and Urban Design in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
